Fishing Sunset

by Igor Zenin

One rower, one line in the water, and a sun low enough to turn the whole lake into a sheet of hammered gold — the birch overhead, heavy with autumn leaves, only frames what the light is already doing on its own. Nothing here is in a hurry. It's the kind of stillness fishing promises and rarely delivers, borrowed for the length of one long exposure. Whatever calm this rower found out there, the photograph is the only way to keep it.
