A birch grove goes almost entirely gold and white under a low autumn sun, the light coming through the trunks in solid-looking shafts rather than a diffuse glow. Far down the path, a small figure leads a pale horse by hand, both reduced to silhouette by the brightness around them. Deep red foliage crowds in from the left, dark against the light, framing the scene rather than competing with it. The path itself carries most of the color — years of fallen leaves built up in drifts of yellow and rust.
