Bird's Bath
by Igor Zenin
A small bird pauses at the edge of a puddle gone orange with the last of a sunset, fallen leaves scattered across the wet ground like confetti nobody's cleaned up. It's a tiny, unglamorous scene — a bird, a puddle, a fence — dressed up entirely by the light doing something spectacular behind it. Most bird baths don't come with their own sunset. This one got lucky.
