Alone

One tree keeps its last gold leaves against a field of snow that runs out further than the frame can hold, a pale glow low on the horizon throwing its shadow out sideways across the drifts. The title says alone, but the light's doing most of the talking here — unhurried, untouched, in no rush to be noticed. It's the kind of solitude that reads as earned, not sad.
