Winter Sun

Dried maple leaves and frost-stiffened stems curl in the foreground of a still, icy stream, backlit by a low winter sun breaking weakly through haze. The light barely warms anything, but it changes the color of the frost just enough to notice. Winter Sun finds its subject in that thin, low-angle light rather than any real heat.
