Glitter

A low sun burns through a haze of pink and gold, glimpsed between two dark, cave-like folds of shadow that frame the scene like a curtain drawn halfway open. Frost-covered trees catch the light in scattered points along both banks of a half-frozen river, each one flaring like a tiny spark against the dusk. The color builds from deep violet at the edges to a soft green-gold core around the sun itself, rare and fleeting. Glitter names the moment right before a winter sunset stops looking like weather and starts looking like a performance.
