Cows graze loosely across a meadow thick with dandelions, dramatic sunbeams breaking through storm cloud overhead like the sky itself is deciding whether to clear. Nothing about the scene is urgent — the cows keep grazing regardless of what the weather's doing. Gates of Life reads like an ordinary pasture caught at the one moment it looked like something more.
