Calm Afternoon
by Igor Zenin
Sunlight breaks through a crowded sky in hard, visible beams over a valley stitched together from a dozen different fields, a small herd of cows grazing loose in the corner like they own the whole view. It's farmland doing the postcard thing without any help — shadow and light taking turns across the hills faster than anyone could track. Calm's the right word for it, but only because nothing in frame is in a hurry.
