Emergence Of Life

Seen from directly above, a village of small red-roofed houses sits wrapped in green at the center of cracked, drought-split earth, a single road cutting straight through the fracture lines like a seam holding it together. Life clusters exactly where the ground has held moisture, everything around it gone to dust. It's a landscape turned into an argument for why anything grows anywhere at all.
