Amber Moorage

An old wooden rowboat sits tied at the bank, going nowhere, half-swallowed by a carpet of fallen leaves that spreads off the shore and out across the shallows. The sky overhead is heavy and grey, reeds and bare trees lining the far shore. Just past the bow, a patch of violet light rests on the water — unexplained, the only note of color in an otherwise ochre and grey scene.
