Styx Marsh

A gnarled, moss-draped tree leans out over a fogbound swamp, its bare branches tangled against a sky burning orange and violet around a low white sun. Spanish moss hangs from distant cypress trunks fading into blue-grey mist, and a lone bird perches on a fallen log near the water's edge. The color shifts from cold blue at the edges to warm fire at the center, like two different times of day agreed to share one frame. Styx Marsh turns a stretch of ordinary wetland into something closer to a threshold than a landscape.
