Styx

A pale moon-like sphere hangs low over a valley of clouds, caught in the seam between a starlit sky above and a moonlit mountain range below. A river of pale gold light threads down through jagged, snow-dusted peaks, cutting the only warm line through an otherwise cold blue world. A lone cross stands on a distant rocky outcrop, watching the valley from above the cloud line. Styx names the river for what it resembles — the one border a landscape draws for itself between the living world and whatever comes after.
