Weeping willows arch over a calm spring river, their long curtains of foliage nearly touching the water where lily pads and pink water lilies cover the near surface. Two swans rest on the water further in, and the far bank is a soft haze of yellow-green budding trees under a pale grey sky. Ferns at the lower left and early autumn-tinged leaves on one willow branch suggest the season is fully present and already preparing to pass. Spring Waters Ii finds the moment when a river scene is so complete it looks composed.
