Sacred Tree

A single oak stands frost-covered and enormous on an open hillside, every branch coated thick in white while a dark line of pines waits behind it like an audience. Fog swallows the middle distance, leaving the tree isolated enough to read as a landmark rather than just a tree — the kind of thing a whole village might navigate by. Nothing else in the frame competes for attention. Sacred Tree earns its title through sheer scale and the reverence of everything around it staying quiet and out of the way.
