A still pond in peak Ontario autumn holds the treeline in perfect reflection — red and orange maples, yellow birches, a scattering of pink at the edges — while lily pads and fallen leaves cover the near surface. Canadian Shield rock anchors the left bank. Grey clouds sit close overhead, soft and unhurried, the kind that arrive after the colour has already peaked. Muskoka Pond finds the day when the autumn has fully given itself and the pond is holding both versions of it at once — the real trees and the ones in the water.
