Moon Swing

A girl sits on a rope swing in the dark, suspended between two ancient bare trees whose twisted branches arch overhead and frame the scene like a natural gate. Behind her, an enormous cracked and luminous blue-green moon fills the arch, too large and too close to be natural, as though it has drifted down to the clifftop. Below, a stormy sea crashes against the rocks and a sailing ship moves in the distance. Moon Swing is the fantasy of the moon as a companion: close enough to lean toward, present enough to light the dark, and indifferent to the weather.
