A hollowed old tree trunk stands at the water's edge, its knots and cavities looking almost like a carved face watching over the mist. Birds cross low against pine-covered hills fading into fog behind it, the whole landscape rendered soft except for that one weathered trunk. Misty Hills gives an ordinary dead tree the presence of something much older.
