Heavenly Touch

Heavenly Touch

by Igor Zenin · 2008

Where a pianist's fingertips would fall, a dancer's pointe shoes land instead. Each brush of toe against key reads like a note struck and held — a private chord no one can hear, played by a body instead of a hand. Heavenly Touch turns the keyboard into a stage floor and the stage floor into an instrument: weight balanced on a single point of contact, one long arabesque translated into music the eye completes for the ear. It isn't a photograph of a dancer so much as a photograph of a sound — the instant just before the note lands.
