Encounter

A weathered brick wall carries the ghost of a passerby — a shadow with a hat and the curl of pipe smoke caught mid-step across patched, mismatched brick. No one's actually in frame; the wall does all the storytelling, color and texture standing in for a person who's already gone. It's an encounter with an absence, and somehow that's the more interesting version.
