A Frozen Lake and a Melting House

Ice-glazed branches frame a sunrise burning orange and gold over a half-frozen lake, a distant village catching the same fire-colored light along the far shore. The branches themselves are the real subject — every twig doubled in thickness by a shell of ice, hanging heavy against a sky too bright to look at directly. Snow and frozen water trade places at the edges, neither fully solid nor fully liquid. A Frozen Lake and a Melting House holds that in-between moment when winter hasn't quite decided to let go.
